      THING 1: I am always intrigued by rap or hip hop music so I did some research on rap music in India. I found that the first Hindi rap album was "Thanda Thanda Pani" by a guy that goes by Baba Sehgal. This song is a remake of "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice. Over 30, 000 copies were sold! Baba Sehgal actually was an engineer in his everyday life but also loved to create music. Check out his remake:


THING 2: Who has ever been to a music festival? If yes then you know how exciting they are if not then I highly recommend going to one in the future. Every year in the city of Goa on the Indian coast has a festival called Sunburn Music Festival. Artists from all over the world come to play music and put on a show. It started in 2007 and has been a big hit since then! 

THING 3: When I was researching more about Arabic music culture I wanted to see what their culture has brought to America. I stumbled across a video of the Michigan Arab Orchestra which was fascinating to me to see this. I'm happy to see that we have a beautiful and talented Arab musical group in America. The arrangement in this video is stunning.

    The video of rap music from India is really cool. Also, I am big into music festivals. Seems like the Sunburn Music Festival is a great time.

    I personally love a great orchestra! The video of the Michigan Arab Orchestra is amazing! I really like how you found things that tied back to what you've experienced!

    I'm glad you shared the festival! I now hope that I'll be able to go some day! Also, I really loved the rap video...personally I hate Ice Ice Baby, but he made it interesting! Also I just loved the music of the Arab group in Michigan. It was very calming and I loved it!

    I liked the Sunburn Music Festival the best because I enjoy the Country Music Fest. in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Thanda Thanda Pani was also cool since I remember "ice ice baby."

    The remake of ice ice baby was so nice it was a bit funny hearing the song in another language but I enjoyed it. The orchestra was spectacular and the performed beautifully. I would love to attend the music festival it looks so fun.

    I like that you put a video of Indian rap. I did not know that India has rap but I shouldn't be surprised that they do.

    You know, I'm always amazed at the ways that rap can be adapted to so many other musical styles around the world. I think it has something to do with the fact that it's such a word-based music, rather than based on particular instruments or melodic/harmonic style.
